I didn't think this series would take 35:51.436 --> 35:57.135 this long, but I'm trying to just give you a broad overview 35:57.135 --> 36:01.876 of Revelation so that I develop a hunger for you to study and 36:01.876 --> 36:05.565 learn of the things of the end times because it's important to 36:05.565 --> 36:08.806 know it. And we'll talk a little bit about that tonight. But I do 36:08.806 --> 36:12.076 want to start, I can't review everything that we've covered in 36:12.076 --> 36:14.085 the past because then if I do, I don't know if it takes up the 36:14.085 --> 36:16.666 whole new message, we never get anywhere and make it ground. But 36:16.666 --> 36:20.985 I do wanna just go back to my chart again, the end time event 36:20.985 --> 36:24.195 timeline, and talk about where we're at right now for someone 36:24.195 --> 36:27.465 that might just be tuning in tonight for the first time. I 36:27.465 --> 36:30.161 want this message to stand on its own and mean something to 36:30.161 --> 36:33.226 you, even if you haven't heard the previous messages. But let's 36:33.226 --> 36:35.146 just look at where we're at, if you'll put that on the back 36:35.146 --> 36:41.715 screen, please. So, we've talked about Revelation 1 through 3, 36:41.715 --> 36:44.956 that's the church age that we're living in right now in this 36:44.956 --> 36:49.695 present time, and it's described in this Revelation chapters 1 36:49.695 --> 36:53.416 through 3 with the seven letters to the seven churches. John 36:53.416 --> 36:57.195 wrote this book of Revelation while he was on the, exiled on 36:57.195 --> 37:01.576 the Isle of Patmos. And then we move to Revelation 4 and 5, and 37:01.576 --> 37:05.175 that is discussing the rapture of the church. We'll talk a 37:05.175 --> 37:08.655 little more about the rapture tonight the difference between 37:08.655 --> 37:10.666 the rapture and the second coming because there's still 37:10.666 --> 37:14.925 confusion in the minds of even clergy about those two events 37:14.925 --> 37:18.286 and they get them interchanged and a little bit mixed up and 37:18.286 --> 37:21.436 then it's confusing for people. But after the church is 37:21.436 --> 37:24.766 raptured, we have the seven year tribulation period. That's 37:24.766 --> 37:28.485 Revelation six through 18. And that's what we concluded last 37:28.485 --> 37:32.356 week on May 6th, I think it was. So if you wanted to go back to 37:32.356 --> 37:37.215 April 29th and May 6th, you could see what we talked about 37:37.215 --> 37:40.365 concerning the seven-year tribulation, the judgments that 37:40.365 --> 37:43.936 fall during that period of time, but also God's grace and mercy 37:43.936 --> 37:47.356 that's shown through the tribulation. And then tonight 37:47.356 --> 37:50.416 we're going to start on Revelation 19. We can't cover 37:50.416 --> 37:52.876 the full chapter, but we're going to read part of it and 37:52.876 --> 37:56.175 talk about the second coming. And that's really where we're at 37:56.175 --> 38:00.106 tonight. In the future, when we have time, I'll be going into 38:00.106 --> 38:02.865 the thousand-year millennial reign, what happens there in the 38:02.865 --> 38:05.596 great white throne judgment, and then the new Jerusalem or new 38:05.596 --> 38:09.556 heaven and new earth in Revelation 20 through 22. So 38:09.556 --> 38:12.706 that kind of gives you an update as to where we're at on the 38:12.706 --> 38:20.806 timeline. As a preview to what we're going into tonight, the 38:20.806 --> 38:24.195 second coming of Christ to earth, we're going to see, first 38:24.195 --> 38:27.885 of all, that Jesus returns from heaven as a conquering king. 38:27.885 --> 38:30.706 He's accompanied by the armies of heaven, which will include 38:30.706 --> 38:36.195 us, those of us that are saved and either die in a safe 38:36.195 --> 38:38.896 condition and go, our spirit goes to heaven, our bodies 38:38.896 --> 38:41.356 remain here, and then when the rapture of the church happens, 38:41.356 --> 38:44.235 our bodies are resurrected. Or if you're alive, when the 38:44.235 --> 38:49.726 rapture happens, then you'll go to be with him then. That's the 38:49.726 --> 38:52.365 army of heaven that's coming back with Jesus that we're gonna 38:52.365 --> 38:55.485 talk about tonight. And then number two, the kings of the 38:55.485 --> 39:00.376 earth and the armies of the Antichrist gather at the Valley 39:00.376 --> 39:03.856 of Armageddon, which is also called the Valley of Jezreel. We 39:03.856 --> 39:09.195 showed a picture of that last week. And that is the final 39:09.195 --> 39:14.505 catastrophic conflict that happens in Israel. So where 39:14.505 --> 39:18.135 Jesus is the conquering king and defeating the armies of the 39:18.135 --> 39:22.606 Antichrist. And then we also see that it's not a prolonged 39:22.606 --> 39:25.695 military conflict. It isn't even going to last as long as this 39:25.695 --> 39:28.306 current war that we're in now, which has been what, two or 39:28.306 --> 39:32.416 three months? This battle is going to be over very quickly in 39:32.416 --> 39:36.525 the same day that it starts. And Christ will defeat the opposing 39:36.525 --> 39:40.695 armies instantly with the word of his mouth. So I wanted to 39:40.695 --> 39:44.835 continue to clarify a little bit about when we discuss the second 39:44.835 --> 39:48.766 coming, as I mentioned, which is Christ's physical return to the 39:48.766 --> 39:54.496 earth. And it is a distinct separate event from what we 39:54.496 --> 39:58.456 refer to as the rapture of the church. And like I mentioned, 39:58.456 --> 40:03.885 even clergy sometimes use those terms interchangeably and talk 40:03.885 --> 40:06.135 about the second coming and they're really referring to the 40:06.135 --> 40:10.576 rapture. Well, some people I do understand talk about the second 40:10.576 --> 40:15.135 coming happening in two phases. And that kind of makes sense too 40:15.135 --> 40:17.476 because the rapture could be the first phase of the second 40:17.476 --> 40:23.135 coming, but Jesus really doesn't come to earth at the rapture. 40:23.135 --> 40:28.235 He's coming in the clouds. So when the second coming happens, 40:28.235 --> 40:32.195 we will be with him and he actually ascends to earth at 40:32.195 --> 40:35.436 that point. So it's just a distinction that I wanted to 40:35.436 --> 40:39.126 make sure we all understand here since we've been studying this 40:39.126 --> 40:44.436 quite a while. So let's just review another graphic that I 40:44.436 --> 40:46.775 want you to see, which kind of breaks down the difference 40:46.775 --> 40:49.865 between the rapture and the second coming and compares the 40:49.865 --> 40:52.715 two, if you'll put that up on the screen next. I'm not sure if 40:52.715 --> 40:57.186 this is gonna be readable from where you're at. So, this says 40:57.186 --> 41:00.126 rapture versus second coming, it kinda got cut off up there, but 41:00.126 --> 41:04.146 that's what that's saying. Left side referring to the rapture. 41:04.146 --> 41:08.106 Basic, couple scriptures that are key explaining the rapture, 41:08.106 --> 41:12.666 1 Thessalonians 4:16 through 17 and 1 Corinthians 15:51 and 52. 41:14.226 --> 41:17.646 In this, number one, Christ comes for his own. We talked 41:17.646 --> 41:22.146 about that. Christ comes for the bride. He's the bridegroom 41:22.146 --> 41:27.516 coming for the bride. And as we look at what happens during the 41:27.516 --> 41:31.896 second coming, Christ comes back with his own, that we will be 41:31.896 --> 41:34.746 accompanying him at that point. We'll talk more about that. 41:34.746 --> 41:37.865 Number two, Christ appears in the air, as I've said. Christ 41:37.865 --> 41:42.485 comes as a loving bridegroom, number three. And only his own 41:42.485 --> 41:48.726 see him when he comes. We know that as far as the second 41:48.726 --> 41:51.246 coming, we're gonna look at that scripture tonight, the Bible 41:51.246 --> 41:55.146 tells us that every eye shall see him. So when he comes back 41:55.146 --> 41:57.846 on the white horse and we are following him as the army of 41:57.846 --> 42:01.686 Christ, every eye in the world will see Christ come back at 42:01.686 --> 42:07.775 that point in time. So number five here says it's a time of 42:07.775 --> 42:12.846 great joy for believers. Of course, that's true. Number six, 42:12.846 --> 42:16.686 a secret disappearance. Number six, on the opposite side, a 42:16.686 --> 42:20.496 public appearance because every eye is seeing him. Now, as far 42:20.496 --> 42:27.215 as number six on this particular graphic, calling it a secret 42:27.215 --> 42:31.266 disappearance, I don't know that I can 100% doctrinally prove 42:31.266 --> 42:35.856 that. I didn't put this slide together that I found this and 42:35.856 --> 42:40.626 felt it applied. That's one that it makes sense that it could be 42:40.626 --> 42:45.155 a secret disappearance. First Thessalonians 4.17 says, "When 42:45.155 --> 42:50.166 we are caught up with Christ in the air, "together to meet the 42:50.166 --> 42:53.315 Lord in the air, "we shall always be with the Lord." So 42:53.315 --> 42:58.266 that word caught up was translated caught up from a 42:58.266 --> 43:06.545 Greek word that is harpazo. And that harpazo means to seize, to 43:06.545 --> 43:11.076 take away by force, or to snatch. And it's a powerful, 43:11.076 --> 43:16.596 sudden, decisive action. If you look at Matthew 11, 12, that 43:16.596 --> 43:21.365 same word, harpazo, is used there when it talks about take 43:21.365 --> 43:24.005 it by force. Until now, the kingdom of heaven suffers 43:24.005 --> 43:27.815 violence and the violent take it by force. So it means it's a 43:27.815 --> 43:33.215 forceful, sudden action. That same word is used on the caught 43:33.215 --> 43:38.076 up or take up or snatching away or the catch up or what we refer 43:38.076 --> 43:43.985 to as the rapture. So 1 Corinthians 15, 52 says, "This 43:43.985 --> 43:47.438 will occur in a moment in the twinkling of an eye." So we know 43:47.438 --> 43:51.606 it's gonna happen quickly. So maybe it possibly will be a 43:51.606 --> 43:57.306 secret disappearance. I mean, one second you are here and you 43:57.306 --> 44:01.266 might be in a restaurant with other people and you're gone. 44:01.266 --> 44:04.715 And they think you got up and went to the restroom and they 44:04.715 --> 44:09.186 didn't notice it, you know, but you're raptured. So it could be 44:09.186 --> 44:13.085 a secret disappearance. I'm just not, I'm not gonna say that's 44:13.085 --> 44:17.076 100% Bible. That's somewhat speculation, but either way, 44:17.076 --> 44:20.195 you're gone in an instant, however that happens. We know 44:20.195 --> 44:24.335 that's true. And then number seven, the focus is on the Lord 44:24.335 --> 44:27.695 and his church at that point in time. And of course, when Jesus 44:27.695 --> 44:31.626 comes back at the second coming, the focus is gonna be on Israel 44:31.626 --> 44:35.766 and his kingdom. Jesus is coming back to defeat the Antichrist 44:35.766 --> 44:39.456 and his armies, and then set up his millennial kingdom on earth 44:39.456 --> 44:42.905 at that point in time. So that's the contrast there. And I just 44:42.905 --> 44:45.456 thought that slide kind of helped to understand that a 44:45.456 --> 44:48.005 little better. And so when people talk about the rapture 44:48.005 --> 44:51.304 and the second coming, if they're confused on that, that 44:51.304 --> 44:56.735 should help you to explain it a little bit better. But let's go 44:56.735 --> 45:00.876 ahead and look at Revelation 19 as we begin tonight. And I'm 45:00.876 --> 45:04.385 gonna start with verse 11 and read through verse 16. We're 45:04.385 --> 45:07.686 gonna read quite a bit of scripture tonight. And I think 45:07.686 --> 45:12.005 it'll help us clarify some of the details in the second 45:12.005 --> 45:15.485 coming. So Revelation 19, starting with verse 11, it says, 45:15.485 --> 45:20.166 "Now I saw heaven opened and behold a white horse. "And he 45:20.166 --> 45:24.275 who sat on him was called Faithful and True. "And in 45:24.275 --> 45:28.626 righteousness he judges and makes war. "His eyes were like 45:28.626 --> 45:32.766 the flame of fire and on his head were many crowns. He had a 45:32.766 --> 45:37.536 name written that no one knew except himself. He was clothed 45:37.536 --> 45:42.036 with a robe dipped in blood, and his name is called the Word of 45:42.036 --> 45:47.556 God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and 45:47.556 --> 45:52.146 clean, followed him on white horses. Now out of his mouth 45:52.146 --> 45:56.496 goes a sharp sword, that with it he should strike the nations; 45:56.496 --> 46:00.456 and he himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He himself 46:00.456 --> 46:04.626 treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of the 46:04.626 --> 46:09.516 Almighty God. And he has on his robe and on his thigh a name 46:09.516 --> 46:14.525 written, "King of Kings and Lord of Lords." So Christ's second 46:14.525 --> 46:17.255 coming is a major doctrine in the Bible. I might have 46:17.255 --> 46:22.085 mentioned this last time. The second coming is mentioned more 46:22.085 --> 46:27.306 than 300 times in the 270 chapters in the New Testament. 46:27.306 --> 46:30.936 So it's a dominant theme. Next to the subject of faith, 46:30.936 --> 46:34.565 Christ's second coming is the most dominant theme in the New 46:34.565 --> 46:40.085 Testament. Scripture actually records 25 times when Jesus 46:40.085 --> 46:45.340 himself directly talked about his return to the earth. And of 46:45.340 --> 46:48.215 course, during this church age, the age of grace that we're 46:48.215 --> 46:53.166 living in now, we have people in the world that have scoffed at 46:53.166 --> 46:55.865 the possibility of Christ's return and say, "Oh, that could 46:55.865 --> 47:01.445 never happen." And really, due to his mercy, Christ has held 47:01.445 --> 47:05.376 back judgment on these scoffers, giving them time to come to 47:05.376 --> 47:09.096 repentance. For 2 Peter 3:9 tells us that. It says, "The 47:09.096 --> 47:12.726 Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some count 47:12.726 --> 47:15.876 slackness. But he's longsuffering toward us, not 47:15.876 --> 47:19.146 willing that any should perish, but that all should come to 47:19.146 --> 47:22.835 repentance." So he's allowed that wickedness to run its 47:22.835 --> 47:28.476 course. But we'll see tonight in chapter 19, this is a timeframe 47:28.476 --> 47:33.396 when the wicked have come to their final end. This is the end 47:33.396 --> 47:37.476 for them. Christ's second coming is God's final judgment of the 47:37.476 --> 47:41.465 rulers of darkness. The time has now arrived when God reclaims 47:41.465 --> 47:45.545 the planet Earth from Satan's grip once and for all. And Satan 47:45.545 --> 47:49.925 will never have authority on the earth from there on. Revelation 47:49.925 --> 47:57.126 1.7 says, "Behold, he's coming with clouds, and every eye will 47:57.126 --> 48:01.715 see him, even they who pierced him. And all the tribes of the 48:01.715 --> 48:05.916 earth will mourn because of him, even so. Amen." That's 48:05.916 --> 48:09.726 Revelation 1.7. Every eye will see him when he appears. We 48:09.726 --> 48:12.456 talked about that earlier. Christ coming on a white horse 48:12.456 --> 48:17.226 will symbolize his glorious victory over God's enemies. 48:17.226 --> 48:23.327 Historically, victorious Roman generals rode white horses, or 48:23.327 --> 48:26.766 they would have the white horses pull their chariots at least, 48:26.766 --> 48:30.036 when they would enter cities coming back in triumph after a 48:30.036 --> 48:34.175 victory. And you'll remember that Revelation 6.2 also 48:34.175 --> 48:37.565 describes the Antichrist coming on a white horse. And we 48:37.565 --> 48:41.706 mentioned that he does this as a counterfeit to Jesus Christ. 48:42.786 --> 48:46.146 Christ will destroy the beast, the Antichrist, the false 48:46.146 --> 48:50.135 prophet, at the second coming. Now when Jesus returns on a 48:50.135 --> 48:54.726 white horse, he's representing righteous judgment, purity, and 48:54.726 --> 48:58.536 absolute victory over his enemies. Revelation 19.11, I 48:58.536 --> 49:01.356 want to read that again. We just read it. "Now I saw heaven 49:01.356 --> 49:05.436 opened, and behold, a white horse, "and he who sat on him 49:05.436 --> 49:09.815 was called Faithful and True, "and in righteousness he judges 49:09.815 --> 49:14.826 and makes war." So in this verse, John's seeing all of 49:14.826 --> 49:19.626 heaven open. He sees Christ seated on a white horse, ready 49:19.626 --> 49:24.456 for his departure from heaven, as a warrior and a king. Jesus 49:24.456 --> 49:28.775 is coming in righteousness to judge and make war, as we talked 49:28.775 --> 49:32.465 about. Now, Christ is described by a number of titles in the 49:32.465 --> 49:35.496 passage that we read. I wanna look at that just so that you 49:35.496 --> 49:40.445 can kinda see the titles that Jesus has in this chapter 19. 49:41.585 --> 49:46.266 Basically in verses 11, 12, and 13, and then finally in 16, it 49:46.266 --> 49:50.976 talks about him being faithful, being true. It says he has a 49:50.976 --> 49:54.965 name written that no man knew but himself. He is called the 49:54.965 --> 49:58.956 Word of God. And finally, King of Kings and Lord of Lords in 49:58.956 --> 50:02.436 verse 16. And we'll talk about those in just a little more 50:02.436 --> 50:05.976 detail here. Number one, he's called faithful. That means he's 50:05.976 --> 50:10.505 trustworthy or one that can be relied on. He's faithful to keep 50:10.505 --> 50:14.856 all of his promises. Jesus said, "Heaven and earth shall pass 50:14.856 --> 50:20.826 away, "but my words shall not pass away." Amen. And number 50:20.826 --> 50:26.226 two, he's true. Verse 11 says this. He's genuine or true. What 50:26.226 --> 50:31.016 Christ said is the full truth. It's the opposite of what Satan 50:31.016 --> 50:34.467 tries to tell us. His job is to deceive and lie to us. That's 50:34.467 --> 50:39.025 all he ever does is deceive and lie. But Christ tells us the 50:39.025 --> 50:43.827 truth. Jesus promised to bring peace and social justice, 50:43.827 --> 50:48.027 political justice to mankind, and he will perfectly deliver 50:48.027 --> 50:51.626 what he's told us that he's going to do. Now, I think it's 50:51.626 --> 50:56.067 interesting that Jesus confirms once again that he and his word 50:56.067 --> 51:01.916 are faithful and true. In John chapter 114, John explicitly 51:01.916 --> 51:05.516 reveals, and you'll remember this, Jesus is the word that 51:05.516 --> 51:10.887 became flesh and made his dwelling among us. So Jesus is 51:10.887 --> 51:14.097 the word that became flesh. So in other words, you could say 51:14.097 --> 51:19.916 the word and Jesus are really the same. And what Jesus 51:19.916 --> 51:24.987 declares is true. So that means his word is true. And what Jesus 51:24.987 --> 51:28.737 says is going to take place, it will take place. He's called 51:28.737 --> 51:32.606 faithful and true. And this kind of relates back to what I was 51:32.606 --> 51:36.266 sharing earlier. I talked about the fact that Bible scholars 51:36.266 --> 51:41.396 estimate that the Bible contains over 3,000 prophetic statements 51:41.396 --> 51:46.856 in the entire book of the Bible. And over 2,500 of those 51:46.856 --> 51:52.407 prophecies have already been fulfilled to the letter. And 51:52.407 --> 51:56.876 that excites me, just to think about that. With that kind of a 51:56.876 --> 52:02.306 track record, there's absolute certainty that the next 500 52:02.306 --> 52:05.336 prophetic statements or prophecies will be fulfilled. 52:07.586 --> 52:11.876 It's amazing. One of our human problems is that God doesn't 52:11.876 --> 52:17.637 always work on our time schedules. And we discussed the 52:17.637 --> 52:22.257 fact that the Bible predicts, or predicted, I should say, that 52:22.257 --> 52:25.827 Jerusalem was going to be a stone of stumbling in the end 52:25.827 --> 52:28.976 times. How many of you were here when we talked about that, that 52:28.976 --> 52:35.606 Jerusalem has been prophesied so many times about coming back and 52:35.606 --> 52:39.956 being restored as a nation? And we looked at Zechariah 12, 52:39.956 --> 52:43.856 verses two and three, and the prophecy that came from 52:43.856 --> 52:49.496 Zechariah came 2,500 years ago, and that prophetic word that 52:49.496 --> 52:54.266 came 2,500 years ago would not have been possible except for 52:54.266 --> 52:58.016 the events that have happened during the last hundred years. 52:58.016 --> 53:03.117 If you had visited Israel, Ken, back a hundred years ago, I know 53:03.117 --> 53:05.067 you're not quite that old, you probably couldn't have done 53:05.067 --> 53:08.666 that, but let's just say you could have visited Israel a 53:08.666 --> 53:11.735 hundred years ago, you would have looked at a desolate 53:12.987 --> 53:16.737 nation, really desert, and you'd say, "There's no way that could 53:16.737 --> 53:23.036 become a prosperous agricultural oasis that it is in that little 53:23.036 --> 53:26.487 country the size of New Jersey." And they're one of the top 53:26.487 --> 53:30.237 producers of agriculture. They export. You'd think they'd just 53:30.237 --> 53:32.996 produce enough to keep their country going, but that little 53:32.996 --> 53:37.257 nation produces enough to export fruit and ag products. And 53:37.257 --> 53:40.706 technologically, they are so far advanced of other nations in the 53:40.706 --> 53:46.586 Middle East in the way that they can produce and have very little 53:46.586 --> 53:52.797 loss on their crops. There's a certain percentage. Pastor Keith 53:52.797 --> 53:56.036 could tell me that as a farmer, or ex-farmer, or being involved 53:56.036 --> 53:59.067 with farms. You know, when you harvest a crop, there's a 53:59.067 --> 54:01.827 certain percentage that you lose. You don't get it all. 54:01.827 --> 54:05.757 Well, the Israelis, I don't even remember the percentage, but 54:05.757 --> 54:10.226 they are excellent at that, and they keep more of their produced 54:10.226 --> 54:15.806 crop and send it off for export than any other nation like that. 54:15.806 --> 54:22.467 And it's amazing what they do. So my point is that Zechariah 54:22.467 --> 54:26.967 and Isaiah and Jeremiah and Ezekiel, you know, some people 54:26.967 --> 54:29.876 think, well, they had pizza dreams because they prophesied 54:29.876 --> 54:33.657 all this stuff and that could have never happened. Well, 78 54:33.657 --> 54:39.836 years ago, May 14th, 1948, Israel became a nation again. 54:39.836 --> 54:43.766 And those men that people joked and laughed about and scoffed 54:43.766 --> 54:49.827 about and said they were stupid for what they prophesied, now 54:49.827 --> 54:54.177 it's proven true. Actually, there were 12 Old Testament 54:54.177 --> 54:58.706 prophets that explicitly prophesied the return of the 54:58.706 --> 55:01.947 nation of Israel to their homeland. So it's kind of 55:01.947 --> 55:04.976 interesting as you study that out. But have you noticed 55:04.976 --> 55:11.157 sometimes that God's timetable is not our timetable? How many 55:11.157 --> 55:13.797 of you ever found yourselves saying, you know, Lord, I give 55:13.797 --> 55:19.226 you till noon on Friday to get this accomplished in my life, 55:19.226 --> 55:22.436 and if you don't do it by then, I'm just gonna go ahead and take 55:22.436 --> 55:25.827 it in my own hands because you're not acting fast enough. 55:25.827 --> 55:29.666 (Congregation Laughing) 55:29.666 --> 55:34.916 Well, remember when Mary and Martha's brother, Lazarus, died? 55:36.086 --> 55:40.407 You can read about it in John chapter 11. The message came to 55:40.407 --> 55:44.036 Jesus while he was at the Jordan River and they said, "Come 55:44.036 --> 55:51.177 quickly, Jesus. The one that you love is dying." And Jesus didn't 55:51.177 --> 55:57.896 respond immediately. He actually stayed at Jordan, laid on his 55:57.896 --> 56:03.108 hammock, relaxed, got some sunshine, and worked on his tan. 56:05.336 --> 56:08.427 I don't know what he did for sure, but the Bible tells us 56:08.427 --> 56:12.806 that he stayed there in Jordan for two days. And then it was a 56:12.806 --> 56:16.916 two-day journey to get to Bethany. So there was actually a 56:16.916 --> 56:20.547 four-day lapse from the time that he got the message that 56:20.547 --> 56:25.496 Lazarus was sick and dying to the time that he arrived. And 56:25.496 --> 56:31.586 when he got close to Bethany, Martha heard that Jesus was 56:31.586 --> 56:35.067 approaching, and she found out where he was at and ran out to 56:35.067 --> 56:37.797 him. And she said, "Lord, if you'd only been here, my brother 56:37.797 --> 56:42.327 would not have died." Because Lazarus had actually passed away 56:42.327 --> 56:45.117 during those four days. Basically, she was telling 56:45.117 --> 56:51.056 Jesus, "You're too late." So why did Jesus hang around for a 56:51.056 --> 56:53.907 couple days at the Jordan instead of heading right to 56:53.907 --> 56:57.297 Bethany to take care of this situation? Why didn't He respond 56:57.297 --> 57:01.617 immediately? And I believe it's because His desire was to do 57:01.617 --> 57:04.976 much more than just heal Lazarus. It was to show the 57:04.976 --> 57:08.847 power of God in raising him from the dead. After he had been dead 57:08.847 --> 57:13.947 for four days, that was even a greater miracle. And often God 57:13.947 --> 57:17.967 delays His answers that He might do much more than what we're 57:17.967 --> 57:22.467 even asking for. That's why Pastor Hank always encourages us 57:22.467 --> 57:27.836 to give prophetic words time to breathe. Give them some time to 57:27.836 --> 57:31.827 breathe. Don't call them faults just because they don't happen 57:31.827 --> 57:37.586 in a week. Give them time to pass. We've seen things, Pastor 57:37.586 --> 57:42.956 Anthony, that Pastor prophesied like 15 or 20 years ago that you 57:42.956 --> 57:45.657 pulled up those old prophecies from the, I don't know if they 57:45.657 --> 57:49.556 were the 90s or early 2000s or whatever, early 2000s anyway, 57:49.556 --> 57:54.746 and we have record of those, and they just came to pass. But when 57:54.746 --> 57:58.496 you guys heard them at the time, those of you that were in the 57:58.496 --> 58:00.806 audience, you might have thought, oh, that's gonna come 58:00.806 --> 58:04.257 next year or this year or whatever, but it took 10, 15 58:04.257 --> 58:08.306 years sometimes for those things to come to pass. How would you 58:08.306 --> 58:11.036 like to have been one of the Old Testament prophets and it took 58:11.036 --> 58:16.257 2,500 years for Israel to become a nation after it was 58:16.257 --> 58:20.036 prophesied? No wonder many of them were stoned as false 58:20.036 --> 58:28.137 prophets. It's like, hmm. Well, as humans, we're very time 58:28.137 --> 58:31.586 conscious, and we think everything has to be immediate. 58:31.586 --> 58:35.487 We have to stop that way of thinking that if it doesn't 58:35.487 --> 58:39.327 happen tomorrow, it's not going to happen. That's not true. 58:39.327 --> 58:42.416 Well, back to Revelation 19. I kind of got off on that a little 58:42.416 --> 58:46.181 bit. But looking at the titles of Christ again, if you want to 58:46.181 --> 58:50.936 put that back up for me. So we looked at faithful and true, and 58:50.936 --> 58:55.197 then number three, he had a name written that no man knew but he 58:55.197 --> 58:59.847 himself. Revelation 19:11 through 12. I want to reread 58:59.847 --> 59:06.387 that again if you'll put that up. Revelation 19:11 through 12 59:06.387 --> 59:11.126 says, "Now I saw heaven opened and behold a white horse. And he 59:11.126 --> 59:14.396 who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in 59:14.396 --> 59:20.157 righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes were like a 59:20.157 --> 59:23.876 flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns. He had a name 59:23.876 --> 59:28.766 written that no one knew except himself." So it seems that John 59:28.766 --> 59:34.586 was able to see a name on Christ, but we don't know if it 59:34.586 --> 59:38.427 was written on his garment or what, but it was evidently 59:38.427 --> 59:42.836 incomprehensible to him. He couldn't make out the name, but 59:42.836 --> 59:47.306 it's evidently supposed to be a mystery until every eye beholds 59:47.306 --> 59:51.356 his coming and people will find out what that name is. And then 59:51.356 --> 59:54.987 number four, he's called the Word of God. That's in verse 13, 59:54.987 --> 59:59.606 Revelation 19, 13 says, "He was clothed with a robe dipped in 59:59.606 --> 01:00:05.186 blood and his name is called the Word of God." So Christ is the 01:00:05.186 --> 01:00:10.166 eternal word who became flesh and dwelt among mankind. We 01:00:10.166 --> 01:00:13.320 talked about that a little bit earlier. Christ is the word. He 01:00:13.320 --> 01:00:16.947 is the complete personal manifestation of God and the 01:00:16.947 --> 01:00:21.206 full final revelation of God. At the second coming, the one that 01:00:21.206 --> 01:00:26.036 spoke the universe into existence will destroy the beast 01:00:26.036 --> 01:00:31.646 and his empire by the word of his mouth. Now, number five, he 01:00:31.646 --> 01:00:36.206 has a name written on his robe and his thigh, King of Kings and 01:00:36.206 --> 01:00:39.623 Lord of Lords. Let's look at that. Revelation 19, 16 says, 01:00:39.623 --> 01:00:43.072 "And he has on his robe and on his thigh a name written, King 01:00:43.072 --> 01:00:47.213 of Kings and Lord of Lords." This title is a summation of 01:00:47.213 --> 01:00:53.273 Christ's rightful claim to reign and rule over all of creation 01:00:53.273 --> 01:00:57.112 with absolute sovereignty. Here we see our mighty Jesus with the 01:00:57.112 --> 01:01:01.163 title of King of Kings and Lord of Lords. It's not only written 01:01:01.163 --> 01:01:04.733 on his robe, Bob, but it's written on his thigh. Did you 01:01:04.733 --> 01:01:06.233 know Jesus has a tat? 01:01:06.233 --> 01:01:09.902 (Audience Laughing) 01:01:09.902 --> 01:01:17.032 King of Kings and Lord of Lords tattooed on his thigh. And I 01:01:17.032 --> 01:01:20.693 know some of you have asked us as pastors of the church, is it 01:01:20.693 --> 01:01:25.853 okay for a Christian to have a tattoo? All I can tell you is 01:01:25.853 --> 01:01:31.643 Jesus has a tattoo. So you can take it from there, what you 01:01:31.643 --> 01:01:37.402 want to do. The Word of God is true. It says, "Faith that he 01:01:37.402 --> 01:01:41.422 has written on his thigh, King of kings and Lord of lords." 01:01:41.422 --> 01:01:45.893 Amen. I wonder what color that tattoo is, if it's a deep blue 01:01:45.893 --> 01:01:49.853 or has a red, you know. Everyone seems to have those deep blue 01:01:49.853 --> 01:01:53.902 tattoos, you know. But I don't have any tattoos, but now maybe 01:01:53.902 --> 01:01:56.003 Eileen will let me get one because I proved to you it's 01:01:56.003 --> 01:02:06.233 scriptural. I wonder if Pastor Hank would ever get a tattoo. I 01:02:06.233 --> 01:02:14.152 don't think so. But let's reread this text scripture in full 01:02:14.152 --> 01:02:17.813 tonight. I wanna go back over this whole scripture and look at 01:02:17.813 --> 01:02:20.722 a couple things in addition to what we've talked about already 01:02:20.722 --> 01:02:25.012 as far as these titles. So I just believe we kinda gotta keep 01:02:25.012 --> 01:02:28.793 digesting because there's a lot in this particular passage. It 01:02:28.793 --> 01:02:32.483 says, "Now I saw heaven open and behold a white horse and he who 01:02:32.483 --> 01:02:36.052 sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness 01:02:36.052 --> 01:02:39.592 he judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire 01:02:39.592 --> 01:02:42.472 and on his head were many crowns, and he had a name 01:02:42.472 --> 01:02:46.072 written that no one knew except himself. He was clothed with a 01:02:46.072 --> 01:02:49.702 robe dipped in blood and his name is called the Word of God. 01:02:49.702 --> 01:02:54.023 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and 01:02:54.023 --> 01:02:58.672 clean, followed him on white horses. Now out of his mouth, 01:02:58.672 --> 01:03:02.572 the mouth of Jesus, goes a sharp sword, that with it he should 01:03:02.572 --> 01:03:05.572 strike the nations. And he himself will rule them with a 01:03:05.572 --> 01:03:09.952 rod of iron. He himself treads the winepress of the fierceness 01:03:09.952 --> 01:03:14.902 and wrath of Almighty God. And he has on his robe and written 01:03:14.902 --> 01:03:17.543 on his thigh in a name written, "King of kings and Lord of 01:03:17.543 --> 01:03:21.083 lords." So not only do we see those five titles of Christ 01:03:21.083 --> 01:03:24.592 here, but we also see John describing Christ's appearance 01:03:24.592 --> 01:03:28.972 at his return. Verse 12 tells us that his eyes were like a flame 01:03:28.972 --> 01:03:33.713 of fire. This penetrating gaze that's described here in the 01:03:33.713 --> 01:03:37.222 eyes of Christ will expose and exterminate all the 01:03:37.222 --> 01:03:41.422 unrighteousness. Christ will wear many crowns on his head. 01:03:41.422 --> 01:03:45.592 This denotes his royalty and his majestic position as sovereign 01:03:45.592 --> 01:03:51.773 king of kings over heaven and earth. Verse 14 explains that 01:03:51.773 --> 01:03:56.753 armies of believers will accompany Christ at his return. 01:03:56.753 --> 01:04:01.342 Let's look at Revelation 19, verse 14. And in the armies of 01:04:01.342 --> 01:04:05.242 heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed him on 01:04:05.242 --> 01:04:09.862 white horses. This great army that accompanies Christ will 01:04:09.862 --> 01:04:14.242 include believers from the church age, this age that we're 01:04:14.242 --> 01:04:17.333 in now currently, the New Testament believers, people that 01:04:17.333 --> 01:04:22.583 have died, been buried, their spirits went to heaven because 01:04:22.583 --> 01:04:25.882 they were believers, their spirits are in heaven now. But 01:04:25.882 --> 01:04:29.242 then when the rapture happens, their bodies will be brought 01:04:29.242 --> 01:04:32.349 together with their spirits. The Old Testament believers will 01:04:44.242 --> 01:04:48.202 be part of this army. I'm not gonna give you the verses now, 01:04:48.202 --> 01:04:53.782 but Jude 14 and 15 and Daniel 12, one through two talks about 01:04:53.782 --> 01:04:56.572 the Old Testament believers as being part of this group that 01:04:56.572 --> 01:05:00.413 comes back with Christ. And then also the tribulation saints that 01:05:00.413 --> 01:05:03.713 were martyred for their faith. During the tribulation period, 01:05:03.713 --> 01:05:07.351 we talked about the fact that the gospel goes forth during the 01:05:07.351 --> 01:05:10.762 tribulation. And those people that got saved during that 01:05:10.762 --> 01:05:13.612 tribulation time were at the very end of the tribulation now, 01:05:13.612 --> 01:05:16.552 talking about the Battle of Armageddon. But we talked about 01:05:16.552 --> 01:05:20.512 the fact that God's mercy ran through the tribulation period. 01:05:20.512 --> 01:05:26.092 And not only did God assign 144,000 Jewish evangelists to 01:05:26.092 --> 01:05:29.422 evangelize the world, he sent the two witnesses, which we 01:05:29.422 --> 01:05:34.193 believe are Moses and Elijah, to be on the earth 1,260 days 01:05:34.193 --> 01:05:37.583 before they're killed. They were evangelizing, prophesying, 01:05:37.583 --> 01:05:40.913 trying to get people saved. And then if that didn't work, we 01:05:40.913 --> 01:05:43.943 also looked at the fact that God sends an angel that goes around 01:05:43.943 --> 01:05:47.302 the entire earth in every nation, every tribe, every 01:05:47.302 --> 01:05:52.943 individual, hears the gospel. But if they choose to refuse it, 01:05:52.943 --> 01:05:58.043 after all that evangelism, they missed the rapture, they're in 01:05:58.043 --> 01:06:03.592 the tribulation period, if they choose to refuse it, they're 01:06:03.592 --> 01:06:09.052 gonna be there at the end, and this'll be the end for them. The 01:06:09.052 --> 01:06:14.963 wicked that have chosen to refuse God are gonna see 01:06:14.963 --> 01:06:17.902 judgment. They've made it through the tribulation. Some of 01:06:17.902 --> 01:06:20.273 them shook their fist at God and were killed during the 01:06:20.273 --> 01:06:24.713 tribulation. So some of those people are already dead. They 01:06:24.713 --> 01:06:30.952 have no more chance. But the tribulation saints, those that 01:06:30.952 --> 01:06:33.023 said, you know what, I'm not gonna take the mark of the 01:06:33.023 --> 01:06:38.333 beast. I'm not gonna serve the Antichrist. I confess my sin, I 01:06:38.333 --> 01:06:41.813 accept Jesus at this time. They might've been martyred at that 01:06:41.813 --> 01:06:46.463 point in time. And then their spirit will go to heaven, but 01:06:46.463 --> 01:06:51.592 they'll come back with Jesus when he comes at this time. 01:06:51.592 --> 01:06:56.813 We'll all return with our glorified bodies. Hallelujah. 01:06:56.813 --> 01:07:01.733 And guess what? We're all gonna be riding white horses. And all I can remember 01:08:43.493 --> 01:08:48.472 is it was just me and the horse. I don't even know if I knew what 01:08:48.472 --> 01:08:52.103 the reins were for a horse. I don't even know what I knew. But 01:08:52.103 --> 01:08:55.222 all I can remember is that horse got spooked somehow and it took 01:08:55.222 --> 01:08:59.243 off towards that highway. And it was a busy highway that was 01:08:59.243 --> 01:09:02.542 going out. We were a quarter of a mile outside of the city 01:09:02.542 --> 01:09:05.693 limits. And so there were cars that were moving along pretty 01:09:05.693 --> 01:09:11.962 fast. And so that horse took off. Unfortunately, either my 01:09:11.962 --> 01:09:14.393 dad or my brother-- I don't even remember who it was-- got the 01:09:14.393 --> 01:09:18.502 horse stopped before I reached the highway there. The verse describes those 01:09:43.462 --> 01:09:48.773 returning with Christ as wearing fine linen, clean and white. And 01:09:48.773 --> 01:09:52.762 that symbolizes the righteousness of Christ produced 01:09:52.762 --> 01:09:57.502 in the lives of the believer. As his followers, redeemed 01:09:57.502 --> 01:10:00.893 believers, are clothed in the garments of salvation and they 01:10:00.893 --> 01:10:05.542 wear robes of righteousness. Isaiah 61:10 declares, "I will 01:10:05.542 --> 01:10:09.592 greatly rejoice in the Lord. My soul shall exult in my God, for 01:10:09.592 --> 01:10:13.073 he has clothed me with the garments of salvation. He has 01:10:13.073 --> 01:10:16.762 covered me with the robe of his righteousness." Hallelujah. 01:10:19.132 --> 01:10:22.403 Thank you, Jesus. There's so many things in this. I wish I 01:10:22.403 --> 01:10:26.393 could have had time to go into it. Just, you know, we see Jesus 01:10:26.393 --> 01:10:29.872 and it talks about his robe being dipped in blood. When he 01:10:29.872 --> 01:10:36.323 came the first time as Savior, he was spotted with his own 01:10:36.323 --> 01:10:40.313 blood. The time when he comes back at the second coming, the 01:10:40.313 --> 01:10:43.792 reason it-- and we'll talk a little more about what happens 01:10:43.792 --> 01:10:47.332 at the Battle of Armageddon, but he is splattered with blood 01:10:47.332 --> 01:10:50.512 because of the battle. And it's the blood of others, not his 01:10:50.512 --> 01:10:55.113 blood. And there's some significance to that, but I've 01:10:55.113 --> 01:11:00.385 got to move on. Revelation 19, let's read 15 through 19. 01:11:05.222 --> 01:11:10.113 Revelation chapter 19:15 through 19. I'm kind of reading 01:11:10.113 --> 01:11:12.512 a lot of scripture tonight, but I think it'll help us to keep 01:11:12.512 --> 01:11:15.423 this straight. From his mouth came a sharp sword to strike 01:11:15.423 --> 01:11:18.842 down the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will 01:11:18.842 --> 01:11:23.404 release the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty, like juice flowing 01:11:23.404 --> 01:11:27.993 from a wine press. That juice flowing from a wine press is an 01:11:27.993 --> 01:11:33.302 explanation of like grapes being trampled and in a wine press. 01:11:33.302 --> 01:11:36.573 That's what's gonna happen during this great battle of 01:11:36.573 --> 01:11:40.024 Armageddon. The blood is gonna flow. We'll talk about that 01:11:40.024 --> 01:11:47.162 more, but where are we? From his mother, okay. On his robe at his 01:11:47.162 --> 01:11:49.953 thigh was written the title, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, 01:11:49.953 --> 01:11:53.823 continue on. Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, shouting to 01:11:53.823 --> 01:11:57.423 the vultures flying high in the sky, come, gather together for 01:11:57.423 --> 01:12:00.932 the great banquet God has prepared. Come and eat the flesh 01:12:00.932 --> 01:12:04.082 of kings, generals, and strong warriors, of horses and their 01:12:04.082 --> 01:12:07.953 riders, and of all humanity, both free and slave, small and 01:12:07.953 --> 01:12:11.972 great. Then I saw the beast and the kings of the world and their 01:12:11.972 --> 01:12:14.673 armies gathered together to fight against the one sitting on 01:12:14.673 --> 01:12:20.912 the horse and his army. This passage explains that the beast, 01:12:20.912 --> 01:12:23.342 the Antichrist, and the kings of the earth and their armies are 01:12:23.342 --> 01:12:27.122 gonna gather together to make war against Christ and his 01:12:27.122 --> 01:12:31.713 armies. Verse 15 explains that out of Christ's mouth goes a 01:12:31.713 --> 01:12:35.762 sharp sword that will strike down the nations. Christ is the 01:12:35.762 --> 01:12:39.813 warrior will simply speak and consume Antichrist and his army 01:12:39.813 --> 01:12:43.173 with the word of his mouth. We as followers aren't gonna really 01:12:43.173 --> 01:12:46.052 have to fight in this battle, Christ does it. It comes from 01:12:46.052 --> 01:12:50.134 the word of his mouth, it consumes his enemies. And it's 01:12:50.134 --> 01:12:53.463 verified in second, I love to have other scriptures that 01:12:53.463 --> 01:12:56.043 verify what we read in the book of Revelation because it gives 01:12:56.043 --> 01:12:59.734 us a little different look at it or more insight to it. And 2 01:12:59.734 --> 01:13:04.444 Thessalonians 2:8 talks about this. It says, "Then the man of 01:13:04.444 --> 01:13:06.962 lawlessness will be revealed." That's talking about the 01:13:06.962 --> 01:13:10.234 Antichrist. "But the Lord Jesus will kill him with the breath of 01:13:10.234 --> 01:13:14.524 his mouth and destroy him by the splendor of his coming." That's 01:13:14.524 --> 01:13:17.103 what will happen to the Antichrist. "And after Christ 01:13:17.103 --> 01:13:20.194 smites the nations," according to verse 15, "He shall rule them 01:13:20.194 --> 01:13:23.762 with a rod of iron. His rule over the nations will be in 01:13:23.762 --> 01:13:28.203 total authority, demanding that every nation conform to his 01:13:28.203 --> 01:13:32.313 righteous standards. Lawlessness will be handled swiftly and 01:13:32.313 --> 01:13:36.003 justly." It's a monarchy at that point. Everyone reports to 01:13:36.003 --> 01:13:40.923 Jesus. And if there's some unrighteous act or wickedness 01:13:40.923 --> 01:13:43.503 that goes on during that millennial period, which there 01:13:43.503 --> 01:13:46.654 again I'm getting ahead of myself, that's for another time. 01:13:46.654 --> 01:13:53.134 But Jesus will put that down quickly and he's in control. The 01:13:53.134 --> 01:13:57.932 rod described in Revelation 19:15 is made of iron and 01:13:57.932 --> 01:14:01.113 biblical scholars interpret the rod of iron as denoting 01:14:01.113 --> 01:14:06.722 absolute, unbreakable power and divine justice. And that's what 01:14:06.722 --> 01:14:11.853 produces peace in the world. The word rod means to shepherd. 01:14:11.853 --> 01:14:16.052 Psalm 23:4, we see the shepherd uses his rod to bring correction 01:14:16.052 --> 01:14:20.194 and comfort to the sheep. We see the term shepherds used to 01:14:20.194 --> 01:14:23.253 describe Christ several times in the New Testament. But I want to 01:14:23.253 --> 01:14:26.972 look at three quickly tonight in John 10, Christ is the good 01:14:26.972 --> 01:14:29.884 shepherd. He says, "I am the good shepherd." The good 01:14:29.884 --> 01:14:34.832 shepherd gives his life for the sheep. And then in Hebrews 13, 01:14:34.832 --> 01:14:37.863 Christ is described as the great shepherd. First, he's described 01:14:37.863 --> 01:14:40.622 as a good shepherd. This verse, he's described as a great 01:14:40.622 --> 01:14:44.372 shepherd. Hebrews 13:20 says, "Now may the God of peace who 01:14:44.372 --> 01:14:47.313 brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great shepherd of 01:14:47.313 --> 01:14:50.853 the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant." 01:14:52.052 --> 01:14:57.063 Hallelujah. Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord 01:14:57.063 --> 01:14:59.734 Jesus from the dead, that great shepherd of the sheep through 01:14:59.734 --> 01:15:04.654 the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in 01:15:04.654 --> 01:15:08.972 every good work to do his will, working in you what is well 01:15:08.972 --> 01:15:12.932 pleasing in his sight through Jesus Christ to whom be glory 01:15:12.932 --> 01:15:17.944 forever and ever. Amen. He's the great shepherd who through his 01:15:17.944 --> 01:15:21.512 grace and mercy provided himself as a sacrifice so that we could 01:15:21.512 --> 01:15:26.762 live. And then finally, we see Peter instructing the elders on 01:15:26.762 --> 01:15:30.063 how to oversee their congregation. In 1 Peter chapter 01:15:30.063 --> 01:15:35.253 5, Jesus is referred to as the chief shepherd. 1 Peter 01:15:35.253 --> 01:15:41.194 5, verses 2 through 4, he's instructing the elders at 01:15:41.194 --> 01:15:44.372 that point in time on how to pastor their flocks. And he 01:15:44.372 --> 01:15:47.673 says, "Shepherd the flock of God, which is among you, serving 01:15:47.673 --> 01:15:52.533 as overseers, not by compulsion, but willingly, not for dishonest 01:15:52.533 --> 01:16:00.603 gain, but eagerly. Nor as being lords over those entrusted to 01:16:00.603 --> 01:16:05.103 you, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief 01:16:05.103 --> 01:16:07.472 shepherd," there's the word, "The chief shepherd appears," 01:16:07.472 --> 01:16:11.313 Jesus, "You will receive the crown of glory that does not 01:16:11.313 --> 01:16:19.262 fade away." So Pastor Keith, Pastor Anthony, Pastor Doug, we 01:16:19.262 --> 01:16:25.262 have to shepherd our sheep. That includes Pastor Hank and Pastor 01:16:25.262 --> 01:16:28.082 Brenda, it includes anyone that's called as a pastor. You 01:16:28.082 --> 01:16:32.582 have to do it with integrity. Not lording over the people that 01:16:32.582 --> 01:16:37.622 God's given you, but doing it not for, what does it say, for 01:16:37.622 --> 01:16:40.774 dishonest gain. You know, there are pastors that are just in it 01:16:40.774 --> 01:16:45.783 for the money. That's called a hireling. They're only in it for 01:16:45.783 --> 01:16:48.573 the money. They don't care whether they feed the sheep. 01:16:48.573 --> 01:16:50.493 That's why they don't care whether they give their sheep 01:16:50.493 --> 01:16:55.023 truth. They'll modify the word of God just to try and make 01:16:55.023 --> 01:17:02.372 their life easier. And what this scripture is saying is that if 01:17:02.372 --> 01:17:11.194 pastors follow this teaching and they are treating their sheep in 01:17:11.194 --> 01:17:15.634 a good way with integrity, being examples to the flock, there's a 01:17:15.634 --> 01:17:19.503 reward. The Bible also says there's higher judgment, Pastor 01:17:19.503 --> 01:17:22.832 Keith and Pastor Anthony. We are held to a higher level of 01:17:22.832 --> 01:17:27.302 judgment. Someday at the judgment of Christ, if we don't 01:17:27.302 --> 01:17:31.113 do what we should as pastors, we don't treat the people well, 01:17:31.113 --> 01:17:35.012 we're gonna be judged for that. We're held to a higher standard. 01:17:35.012 --> 01:17:38.463 But it also says, thank God, and I'm hoping we get that, there's 01:17:38.463 --> 01:17:42.603 a reward, there's a reward for us if we treat our people 01:17:42.603 --> 01:17:48.122 rightly, amen. So my whole point to this was, not to talk about 01:17:48.122 --> 01:17:51.662 pastoring necessarily, but just to say Jesus is referred to as 01:17:51.662 --> 01:17:55.948 the chief shepherd there, because the other pastors that 01:17:55.948 --> 01:17:58.832 are on the earth doing the work of God, they're under shepherds, 01:17:58.832 --> 01:18:02.162 really. Jesus is the chief shepherd. He's the one we report 01:18:02.162 --> 01:18:09.122 to. Hallelujah. Well, I'm trying to see where to go here. Oh, 01:18:09.122 --> 01:18:12.332 let's quote Pastor David Jeremiah. I think this is good. 01:18:12.332 --> 01:18:15.140 He said this, you can put this up on the screen if you want to. 01:18:16.622 --> 01:18:20.793 He says, "When Christ returns, and only then will the angels' 01:18:20.793 --> 01:18:24.363 message to the shepherds be totally fulfilled, peace on 01:18:24.363 --> 01:18:29.313 earth, goodwill towards men." Amen. That's when it'll happen. 01:18:29.313 --> 01:18:33.332 At that point, when Christ returns, then the angels' 01:18:33.332 --> 01:18:38.613 message, given so many centuries ago, will actually be fulfilled. 01:18:38.613 --> 01:18:41.524 Well, let's read on to, we're gonna move on here. I'm getting 01:18:41.524 --> 01:18:47.253 ready to conclude fairly soon here. Revelation 19, verses 17 01:18:47.253 --> 01:18:51.993 through 19. It says, "Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, 01:18:51.993 --> 01:18:55.323 shouting to the vultures flying high in the sky, 'Come, gather 01:18:55.323 --> 01:19:00.363 together for the great banquet God has prepared. Come and eat 01:19:00.363 --> 01:19:02.762 the flesh of the kings, generals, and strong warriors of 01:19:02.762 --> 01:19:05.673 the horses, and the riders of all humanity, both free and 01:19:05.673 --> 01:19:09.627 slave, small and great.' Then I saw the beast and the kings of 01:19:09.627 --> 01:19:12.092 the world and their armies gathered together to fight 01:19:12.092 --> 01:19:17.944 against the one sitting on the horse and his army. Here we see 01:19:17.944 --> 01:19:20.524 a picture of what happens following the great battle of 01:19:20.524 --> 01:19:24.753 Armageddon. It's a gross scene. It's intense. But it's what will 01:19:24.753 --> 01:19:27.993 happen. John saw an angel standing in the sun. It doesn't 01:19:27.993 --> 01:19:30.603 mean he's actually standing in the sun. It means the sun is in 01:19:30.603 --> 01:19:34.863 the background. It's a bright sun. And John saw the angel 01:19:34.863 --> 01:19:39.302 standing there in the brightness of the sun. And the angel yells 01:19:39.302 --> 01:19:43.024 out with a loud voice, and he alerts all the vultures in the 01:19:43.024 --> 01:19:47.162 air to come to the great supper. These vultures are assigned to 01:19:47.162 --> 01:19:50.703 eat the flesh of the kings, the captains, the mighty men, the 01:19:50.703 --> 01:19:53.613 horses, and all men, free and enslaved, small and great. Now, 01:19:55.113 --> 01:19:57.603 we didn't have time tonight to discuss every passage of 01:19:57.603 --> 01:20:01.622 Revelation 19 in detail, but you need to understand this. It is 01:20:01.622 --> 01:20:06.783 gross to discuss it. But the last part of verse 15 states 01:20:06.783 --> 01:20:10.533 that Jesus will release the fierce wrath of God, the 01:20:10.533 --> 01:20:15.603 Almighty, like juice flowing from a wine press. I mentioned 01:20:15.603 --> 01:20:19.893 that, like squeezing grapes from a wine press. And I think it's 01:20:19.893 --> 01:20:27.243 Revelation 14, 20 that tells us that the blood will flow as high 01:20:27.243 --> 01:20:33.634 as the horse's bridle. But can you imagine a 200 million man 01:20:33.634 --> 01:20:39.122 army? You know, I attended the Promise Keepers, what was that 01:20:39.122 --> 01:20:45.033 called, Eileen? 1997, I believe. There was a million men 01:20:45.033 --> 01:20:49.713 estimated to be at the Promise Keepers march. Now it just 01:20:49.713 --> 01:20:52.850 escapes me. It was in Washington, D.C. on the Mall. 01:20:52.850 --> 01:20:57.594 What was that? The Million Man March, is that what it was? I 01:20:57.594 --> 01:20:59.663 don't know if that's what it was. I don't think that's right. 01:20:59.663 --> 01:21:02.814 It was a Promise Keepers event, if any of you heard of Promise 01:21:02.814 --> 01:21:09.564 Keepers. It's kind of gone now, I think. But anyway, Pastor Hank 01:21:09.564 --> 01:21:13.104 was at that with me and a group of probably a couple hundred men 01:21:13.104 --> 01:21:17.904 flew out there and did that on a, and it was a Sunday, Saturday 01:21:17.904 --> 01:21:21.173 event, I believe it was. We got back late Saturday night, we did 01:21:21.173 --> 01:21:26.243 a one-day trip. But what was I gonna say? Oh, there was a 01:21:26.243 --> 01:21:30.654 million men on the mall. And I'd never seen a million men in one 01:21:30.654 --> 01:21:33.923 place before. And it was like amazing to me. I mean, it was as 01:21:33.923 --> 01:21:39.413 far as I could see, there were men. A million men in one place 01:21:39.413 --> 01:21:44.573 is a lot of men. There's going to be 200 million men at the 01:21:44.573 --> 01:21:48.654 army at the Battle of Armageddon. And can you imagine 01:21:48.654 --> 01:21:53.934 the amount of blood when 200 million men and their horses are 01:21:53.934 --> 01:21:57.680 slaughtered? No wonder it runs as deep as the horse's bridle. 01:22:01.463 --> 01:22:07.073 Well, the vultures are called at that point to a mighty feast. 01:22:08.094 --> 01:22:13.644 The vultures descend swiftly upon the decaying flesh and the 01:22:13.644 --> 01:22:19.104 army of the Antichrist, and they quickly devour it. The intense 01:22:19.104 --> 01:22:24.413 carnage from this battle. It's amazing what that will be like. 01:22:24.413 --> 01:22:27.323 But the Bible tells us these ugly birds will feed on the 01:22:27.323 --> 01:22:31.404 decaying carcasses of millions of men and their horses that 01:22:31.404 --> 01:22:34.613 attempted to fight for the Antichrist. Now, another point 01:22:34.613 --> 01:22:38.453 to note here is that sin and wickedness is judged here, like 01:22:38.453 --> 01:22:40.613 we've talked about. It says that it made a point to say it's kings and 01:22:50.753 --> 01:22:54.833 captains and mighty men and horses and all men, the free and 01:22:54.833 --> 01:22:57.234 enslaved, the small and the great, they're all going to be 01:22:57.234 --> 01:23:00.923 there. God's judgment is not reserved for a certain class of 01:23:00.923 --> 01:23:05.573 people. If they failed to respond to God, they've 01:23:05.573 --> 01:23:10.134 disobeyed God, never accepted his grace and mercy, they'll be 01:23:10.134 --> 01:23:12.804 judged at that point in time. It doesn't matter what their 01:23:12.804 --> 01:23:17.003 station in life is. And here during our time on earth, we see 01:23:17.003 --> 01:23:20.634 individuals that maybe are extremely wealthy or they have 01:23:20.634 --> 01:23:25.014 high positions, you know, and they get by for a period of 01:23:25.014 --> 01:23:28.673 time, you know, and they, you know, we all know they should go 01:23:28.673 --> 01:23:32.064 to jail for the evil deeds that they've done, but maybe they 01:23:32.064 --> 01:23:34.707 have a way to buy it off or maybe because of their power or 01:23:34.707 --> 01:23:38.934 their prestige or their name or whatever it is, they don't end 01:23:38.934 --> 01:23:43.073 up in jail. They just keep on going. Well, that's gonna come 01:23:43.073 --> 01:23:47.993 to an end at this point in time because there won't be anyone 01:23:49.073 --> 01:23:52.463 that's excluded from this. It doesn't matter if your name is 01:23:52.463 --> 01:23:56.394 Rockefeller or if your name is Smith. You're gonna be involved 01:23:56.394 --> 01:24:03.863 in that situation and this is judgment time. It doesn't matter 01:24:03.863 --> 01:24:07.404 what your class is. The good news is, of course, if we judge 01:24:07.404 --> 01:24:10.434 ourselves now, we can be on the right side of judgment and we 01:24:10.434 --> 01:24:13.344 don't have to think about these things. But it is important to 01:24:13.344 --> 01:24:15.623 know what's going to happen. How many of you are enjoying just 01:24:15.623 --> 01:24:18.384 kind of understanding the timeline? Even though we have to 01:24:18.384 --> 01:24:20.724 talk about some things that aren't really comfortable, it's 01:24:20.724 --> 01:24:23.724 good to know the timeline of how these things are going to happen 01:24:23.724 --> 01:24:28.163 and what God's mercy and redemption and plan has been all 01:24:28.163 --> 01:24:32.663 along to get people to turn. But if they refuse, they have free 01:24:32.663 --> 01:24:37.163 will. It's their choice. God does not send anyone to hell. We 01:24:37.163 --> 01:24:41.484 send ourselves there because of our own free will. And people, I 01:24:41.484 --> 01:24:46.194 have opportunity after opportunity to receive God's 01:24:46.194 --> 01:24:50.634 mercy. Well, as we conclude Revelation 19 with the last 01:24:50.634 --> 01:24:55.583 three verses, I wanna read 19 through 21. And it says, "Then I 01:24:55.583 --> 01:24:58.283 saw the beast and the kings of the world and their armies 01:24:58.283 --> 01:25:00.503 gathered together to fight against the one sitting on the 01:25:00.503 --> 01:25:04.373 horse and his army. And the beast was captured, and with him 01:25:04.373 --> 01:25:07.463 the false prophet, who did mighty miracles on the behalf of 01:25:07.463 --> 01:25:10.134 the beast, miracles that deceived all who had accepted 01:25:10.134 --> 01:25:13.373 the mark of the beast and had worshipped the statue. Both the 01:25:13.373 --> 01:25:17.304 beast and his false prophet were thrown alive into the fiery lake 01:25:17.304 --> 01:25:20.904 of the burning sulfur. Their entire army was killed by the 01:25:20.904 --> 01:25:23.543 sharp sword that came from the mouth of the one riding the 01:25:23.543 --> 01:25:28.073 white horse, the mouth of Jesus. And the vultures all gorged 01:25:28.073 --> 01:25:33.684 themselves on the dead bodies. The final destiny of this 01:25:33.684 --> 01:25:37.613 satanic team is certain. Both the beast and the false prophet 01:25:37.613 --> 01:25:41.543 are cast into the lake of fire. And maybe in the future we'll 01:25:41.543 --> 01:25:44.423 talk about the lake of fire. It's an eternal burning fire. 01:25:44.423 --> 01:25:49.104 It's not a consuming fire where people are just killed and gone. 01:25:49.104 --> 01:25:56.243 No, they burn forever. Forever torture and pain. After the 01:25:56.243 --> 01:25:59.243 Lord's completed His judgment, He'll establish the millennial 01:25:59.243 --> 01:26:01.854 kingdom on the earth, and those that return with Him will be 01:26:01.854 --> 01:26:05.363 made priests of God and reign with Him during that millennial 01:26:05.363 --> 01:26:08.573 kingdom. But that's the subject for another time. We'll talk 01:26:08.573 --> 01:26:13.134 about the millennium and what happens during that time. I want us to think about the tremendous 01:26:23.333 --> 01:26:29.634 contrast between the second coming when Christ comes back 01:26:29.634 --> 01:26:34.764 with the church and contrast that to the first time that 01:26:34.764 --> 01:26:38.724 Jesus came and how he rode into Jerusalem in a lowly state 01:26:38.724 --> 01:26:41.453 sitting on a borrowed donkey. And I think you have that 01:26:41.453 --> 01:26:45.354 picture for me there of Jesus coming in on the donkey. That 01:26:45.354 --> 01:26:49.104 first ride didn't last too long. It was a fleeting moment of 01:26:49.104 --> 01:26:53.873 glory on his way to the cross. The cheers soon turned to 01:26:53.873 --> 01:26:57.594 hateful cries. They yelled at him and they said, "If you're 01:26:57.594 --> 01:27:04.434 the son of God, save yourself." And they yelled, "You claim to 01:27:04.434 --> 01:27:09.384 save others, "but you can't save yourself, Jesus." And the man 01:27:09.384 --> 01:27:13.673 who was king for a short time suffered and bled and died. It 01:27:13.673 --> 01:27:17.724 was all part of a merciful master plan that God put in 01:27:17.724 --> 01:27:21.024 place to save the world. John 3:16, "For God so loved the 01:27:21.024 --> 01:27:23.844 world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever 01:27:23.844 --> 01:27:26.844 believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting 01:27:26.844 --> 01:27:32.783 life." That was the master plan. The Jewish people would not 01:27:32.783 --> 01:27:35.963 accept Jesus as their Messiah, even though he fulfilled all 01:27:35.963 --> 01:27:39.264 their prophecies about a suffering Savior. Isaiah 01:27:39.264 --> 01:27:43.463 foretold this. Let's look at Isaiah 53, verses 5 through 7. I 01:27:43.463 --> 01:27:46.793 want you to see this. It says, "But he was wounded for our 01:27:46.793 --> 01:27:50.363 transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities. The 01:27:50.363 --> 01:27:54.654 chastisement for our peace was upon him, and by his stripes we 01:27:54.654 --> 01:27:59.663 are healed. All we, like sheep, have gone astray. We've turned 01:27:59.663 --> 01:28:03.684 everyone to his own way, and the Lord has laid on him the 01:28:03.684 --> 01:28:08.663 iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and he was afflicted, 01:28:08.663 --> 01:28:12.564 yet he opened not his mouth. He was led as a lamb to the 01:28:12.564 --> 01:28:16.673 slaughter and as a sheep before its shearer is silent, so he 01:28:16.673 --> 01:28:20.934 opened not his mouth. That's Isaiah's prophecy from Isaiah 01:28:20.934 --> 01:28:24.713 53. The first time Jesus rode in, he rode into town as a 01:28:24.713 --> 01:28:29.873 suffering Savior sent to redeem fallen men. He rode in on a 01:28:29.873 --> 01:28:34.854 donkey but carried out a cross. He had a hero's welcome but he 01:28:34.854 --> 01:28:39.774 died a criminal's death. But at the second coming of Jesus, 01:28:39.774 --> 01:28:45.173 Jesus is gonna ride again. The next time Jesus rides, he will 01:28:45.173 --> 01:28:49.314 fulfill Isaiah's second set of prophecies concerning the 01:28:49.314 --> 01:28:52.823 Messiah. Let's read that. That comes from Isaiah 9, verses six 01:28:52.823 --> 01:28:56.543 and seven. It says, "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son 01:28:56.543 --> 01:28:59.873 is given, and the government will be upon his shoulder, and 01:28:59.873 --> 01:29:03.594 his name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty 01:29:03.594 --> 01:29:08.694 God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his 01:29:08.694 --> 01:29:12.594 government and peace, there will be no end. Upon the throne of 01:29:12.594 --> 01:29:16.373 David and over his kingdom, to order it and establish it with 01:29:16.373 --> 01:29:21.503 judgment and justice. From that time forward, even forever, the 01:29:21.503 --> 01:29:26.993 zeal of the Lord of Hosts will perform this." The next time 01:29:26.993 --> 01:29:31.493 Jesus rides, things are going to be 100% different. He'll no 01:29:31.493 --> 01:29:35.634 longer be a temporary king riding on a donkey. He'll come 01:29:35.634 --> 01:29:39.953 in the clouds in great glory as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. 01:29:41.003 --> 01:29:44.453 He's not coming as king for a day, but he's going to be coming 01:29:44.453 --> 01:29:49.014 as king for all eternity. He's coming on a white horse carrying 01:29:49.014 --> 01:29:53.993 a sword. He'll have crowns on his head and fire in his eyes, 01:29:53.993 --> 01:29:57.743 and he's coming to rule and reign. Yes, he's going to write 01:29:57.743 --> 01:30:02.783 again, but we will be with him as part of the army of Christ, 01:30:02.783 --> 01:30:06.293 and it's going to be an awesome day. God's going to restore all 01:30:06.293 --> 01:30:10.524 things to their original perfect state, erasing sin, death, and 01:30:10.524 --> 01:30:15.264 suffering, and there's only one way to enlist in that army 01:30:15.264 --> 01:30:19.073 that's accepting the shed blood of Jesus Christ and making him 01:30:19.073 --> 01:30:22.811 the Lord of your life. You know, you can't participate in this 01:30:22.811 --> 01:30:27.533 second mission of Christ if you refuse to accept what he did in 01:30:27.533 --> 01:30:32.154 his first mission. You can't reign with him in the future if 01:30:32.154 --> 01:30:38.064 you don't let Jesus redeem you from sin right now. You won't 01:30:38.064 --> 01:30:41.003 ride with him in the future if you haven't bowed your knee to 01:30:41.003 --> 01:30:45.533 him in the present. Philippians 2, verses 8 through 11 says, and 01:30:45.533 --> 01:30:48.984 being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and 01:30:48.984 --> 01:30:52.134 became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the 01:30:52.134 --> 01:30:56.891 cross. Therefore, God has highly exalted him and given him the 01:30:56.891 --> 01:31:01.194 name which is above every name. And at that name of Jesus, every 01:31:01.194 --> 01:31:05.168 knee should bow, of those in heaven and of those on earth and 01:31:05.168 --> 01:31:09.009 of those under the earth. And that every tongue should confess 01:31:09.009 --> 01:31:12.939 that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of the Father. The King is 01:31:12.939 --> 01:31:18.099 coming. It's up to us to determine on which side we'll be 01:31:18.099 --> 01:31:24.099 the next time Jesus rides. Will we come with him back at the 01:31:24.099 --> 01:31:27.458 second coming? Will we be part of that army? You can determine 01:31:27.458 --> 01:31:33.368 that. Or you could be one of those left behind in the 01:31:33.368 --> 01:31:37.779 tribulation period, or even at the Battle of Armageddon, who 01:31:37.779 --> 01:31:41.769 knows? Shaking your fist at God saying, "You know what? I don't 01:31:41.769 --> 01:31:49.298 believe." But how can you not believe? When 2,500 prophecies 01:31:49.298 --> 01:31:52.832 have already come to pass, believe me, He's coming again. 01:31:54.338 --> 01:31:57.368 He's coming in the rapture to take the bride of Christ with 01:31:57.368 --> 01:32:03.519 Him. And with all my heart, that's where I want us to be. I 01:32:03.519 --> 01:32:07.088 don't want to be left behind. Like someone said, I want to go 01:32:07.088 --> 01:32:11.109 in the first load. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.
